In 1966, Walt Disney coined the acronym "EPCOT" meaning "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow." He presented his dream in a short film detailing a place where people could live in an environment like no other. Following the opening of the Magic Kingdom® Park in 1971, the Walt Disney Company announced it would proceed with plans to build Walt's final dream.

Disney Imagineers soon had proposals ready for a park consisting of two areas - Future World and World Showcase. "EPCOT Center" opened to Guests on October 1, 1982.

Today, Guests visiting Epcot® can celebrate the fascinating cultures and numerous wonders of the world around through dazzling shows, interactive experiences and amazing attractions.

Epcot® served as the birthplace of Disney Pin Trading in October 1999. WDW felt it was fitting to commemorate this milestone with a wonderful collection of Disney pins. Martha Widener from Disney Design Group contributed to the artwork for these pins.

The pins will be released at various locations throughout Epcot® on October 1, 2007.
