Legend tells of buried treasure far beneath the streets of Port Royale. Starting June 23, 2006, join in the search for the Golden Pins as Disneyland® Resort pays tribute to the classic Disney attraction turned motion picture, Pirates of the Caribbean. A specially designed collection of pins and trading accessories will be released as part of this adventurous summer celebration.

It has been told there is a buried treasure far beneath the streets of Port Royale. Legend has it that rollicking bands of pirates from near and far would travel across the seven seas to the Banks of Orleans, in search of golden treasure. Containing everything from the finest silver, to pieces of eight, brass and precious metals, the treasure also contained the most prized possession of all, a collection of "golden" pins. Created from the purest gold that ever existed, it has been said that anyone who obtains all of the golden pins would receive riches beyond their wildest dreams.

In a simple twist of fate, a dubious band of marauders stumbled across the treasure as they pillaged and plundered through the town. Unaware of their find, they began selling off pieces of the treasure to local merchants at various ports along the way. Til this day the treasure can be found scattered throughout the lands, but one of the "golden" pins has yet to be uncovered. Many treasure seekers have attempted to bootleg the design of this pin, in hopes to reap the wealth and power that the legend fore-tales.

Open Edition Pins

To kick-off the celebration on June 23, 2006, The DLR will release open edition pins themed to Pirates of the Caribbean and the "Legend of the Golden Pins." Retails will vary. In addition, be on the lookout for the "Legend of the Golden Pins" logo pin, which will be offered for $6.95, plus tax. All of these pins and more will be available at pin purchasing locations throughout the Resort (Limit twenty-five (25) per Guest. Available while supplies last.).

As part of the Pirates of the Caribbean "Legend of the Golden Pins" collection The DLR will also offer a framed pin set.

Wristband Distribution

Wristbands will be distributed entitling bearers to the opportunity to purchase up to TWO (2) of each style of the "Legend of the Golden Pins" limited edition pins released in association with Pirates of the Caribbean "Legend of the Golden Pins" promotion. Guests wishing to obtain a wristband to purchase the "limited-edition" pins, will not be permitted to wait in line prior to 6:00 a.m. Wristbands for pins will be distributed on the day of release one hour prior to the opening of Disneyland® park in the West Esplanade Tram Drop-off area located near the Guest Information Kiosk. Guests who wish to obtain a wristband to purchase a pin must be present when the line forms or they will be escorted to the back of the line. In addition, holding a place in line for others in your party will not be allowed. Wristbands will be distributed until 12 Noon or while supplies last.

Wristbands will be valid for the purchase of up to TWO (2) limited-edition themed pins (per style) at the designated merchandise location until 1:00 P.M. on the day of distribution. Wristbands are limited. At 1:00 P.M. any remaining pins will be available for purchase at the designated merchandise location by persons who have not previously purchased the pin(s) on the day of release. New Pirate Coin Pin Series


Treasure hunters found a new twist in the pin trading boards as they looked for booty at the Pirates of the Caribbean ~ Legend of the Golden Pins!!

One side was the standard see a pin you like, trade for it. The other side was different. Now there are secret treasure chests. Each chest has a pin in it. You don't know what you will get, sometimes good, sometimes it's someone's trader.

The fun part is that some have randomly placed Pirate Coin Pins in them. Find this, you get the coin and the regular pin. The back of the pin says, "Disneyland Resort Hotel Lanyard Collection". We were told that there are 9 pins in the set.

There are denominations 1 (Daisy), 2 (Chip and Dale), 3 (Huey Dewey Louie), 5 (Pluto), 10 (Donald), 25 (Goofy), 50 (Sleeping Beauty Castle), 75 (Minnie), and 100 (Mickey).

They are different in size and also given to hotel guests in a packet when they check in. Happy Hunting!

Artist Bio

Tim found himself artistically inclined at a very early age. Encouraged and inspired by his mother, Tim chose to pursue art as his career when he was in college at Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. An artist with the Disney Design Group since 1998, Tim enjoys creating artwork that proudly represents the Disney name.

He currently designs art for Disneyland® park and Disney's California Adventure® park. Prior to his coming to Disney, Tim worked for the United States military, creating graphics for the army and navy simulation program. Outside of his work, Tim enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife Lisa and their son, Mason.

Artist Bio

Once upon a time&.as far back as I can remember, I had this deep down desire to work for Walt Disney's company. Luckily I inherited some of my father's artistic talent so I decided I would pursue a career in art. And what better place to work than at Disney?! Thanks to my parents and my wife Marian's encouragement, I never gave up on my dream. One day Marian suggested that we just take the risk and move to Orlando. We quit our jobs, sold our house and headed to Orlando with our two children.

The first couple of months were the toughest until I finally got "my foot in the door" when I showed several drawings to the Character Art Manager at Walt Disney Attractions Merchandise. I began doing character art on a free lance basis. Although I was doing what I truly loved, I felt like an outsider. I still wasn't an employee of Walt Disney's company. Finally on December 6, 1993, I achieved my life-long dream by being hired on as a Senior Character Artist at Walt Disney Attractions Merchandise!
