Colors of Evil - Maleficent Jumbo Pin

Maleficent's elegant hauteur has distinguished her among the great villains of Disney animation, though beneath that cool restraint lurks a volcanic fury which is all-too-easily unleashed. The multicolored design of this pin has been adapted from both poster and record album art promoting the 1970 theatrical re-release of Walt Disney's 1959 masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty. Though the groovy colors reflect the times, the image is itself an adaptation of an early concept illustration by Disney Legend Marc Davis, one of the films directing animators and designer of the evil fairy.

Red, purple, magenta, orange and fiery yellow are all a part of Maleficent's dynamic, incendiary cloak: the kaleidoscopic wake of a villains rage. The pin measures 4" in length and 2.75" at is widest. It is a flat pin.

Artist Bio:

Stacia, who recently celebrated her 28th anniversary with The Walt Disney Company, is based out of the Disneyland Resort in California, but has spent much of her time on projects with many diverse Disney divisions, including Disney Channel, Toon Disney Channel, Walt Disney World, Disney Consumer Products and Walt Disney Live Family Entertainment. At first, it was not strictly art or the tricky "quick sketch" skills that occupied her time; as an avid Disney fan and collector, Stacia first found her niche in the original Disneyana Shop on Main Street in Disneyland. There, and subsequently when opening The Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square, she was happy to spend time with Park Guests whose specialized questions and collectible needs were well met by her knowledge of Disney lore. Today Stacia continues to share this history as a writer, contributing to Disney video documentaries.

Recent assignments have continued in their diversity: illustrating books, designing collectibles, radio and television appearances, and researching and writing The Sounds of Disneyland, the coffee table book accompanying Walt Disney Records' six-CD box set, A Musical History of Disneyland.

Artist Bio:

I grew up in a small town in Georgia, that most people have never heard of, with dreams of being an artist. I worked in California at Disney Consumer Products for almost 4 years, but California was just a little too far away from home for this Georgia Boy! Since then I have been fortunate to work for the Disney Design Group in sunny Florida. And the rest, as they say, is history.
