Walt Disney Originals Collection - "Flowers and Trees" The Walt Disney Originals Collection pays tribute to Walt Disney's pioneering achievements in great family entertainment. A new Limited Edition pin will be released each month throughout 2006. This Limited Edition pin celebrates animated short, "Flowers and Trees." Originally begun as a black and white cartoon, this Silly Symphony cartoon was finished in color at Walt Disney's insistence. He believed color would greatly enhance animation. The first animated short in color was released on July 30, 1932. This pin features an image of Walt Disney with a scene from "Flowers and Trees." This image is hinged with the cover in black and white. When opened, the pin reveals the same scene in full color. Glenn Winters from Disney Design Group created the artwork for this pin. Here is the Dumbo Pin we mentioned last evening
in the news!!
 
And get ready for more pins at the Disney Stores!! Disney Stores are going to be carrying pins more often- though nowhere near the MMM series or the like. Dumbo is one of 5 pins in the first series of some new pins. Dumbo, Captain Hook, two different Narnia pins and an Eeyore pin will be the first group. The pins will be not be limited per say. Each DS will get only get one or two shipments of each pin, and not all DS will get the same styles. The goal is to keep them somewhat limited and collectible and to keep them at full price. They do not want to flood the stores with pins and have to put them on sale. |

This proposed Walt Disney Imagineering concept introduced characters from classic Disney Animated Features into the "it's a small world" attraction. Each character would have been depicted in the style of Mary Blair, the Disney Imagineer who was instrumental in the design of "it's a small world" for the 1964 World's Fair. This Fantasyland® Attraction opened in Florida on October 1, 1971. Adrianne Draude from Disney Design Group assisted with turning this concept into a pin collection. |
