From Snip's Mail Bag
Snip:

I'm flying in from Ohio for labor day weekend (getting in late 8/30 and leaving at noon 9/2), and was wanting to know the best stops for pin trading and or any new release LE that might be popping up that weekend.

I forgot to tell you that we were going to WDW that would probably make a big difference :).

Thanks for the info. TTFN=====Jason

Jason,

I have some bad news....... Seems they no longer allow anyone but that little pixie to "FLY" in the park. I am thinking you would do better to fly into the airport and then drive to the park.

Oh and while you are at the airport you should check out the Disney Store there! You never know what you might find. I hear stories about pins on cast lanyards and some other goodies.

While you are in the park there is the Friday nights at the Contemporary, Saturday at the Polly and Sunday at Boardwalk. And....Mickey's Trading Nights are also beginning Thursdays at All Star Sports!!! Also don't forget to check out the new Pin Traders store at Downtown Disney!

As far as new releases ....you just might find a Labor day pin in your travels and if you keep your eyes open, there are other LE pins that may still be hanging around too.

Hope you have a great time and hopefully we will run into each other to trade!

Happy Trading!

Snip,

Is your purpose to help pin collectors or just insult us??? I don't get your reason for poking fun at questions asked of you.

Well,

Pin Trading and Collecting is a fun hobby. More and more often I see people getting very angry and upset with their hobby. This concerns me. I always try and add a bit of fun into my response and it is never "POKED" at anyone in particular.

I spend a good deal of time sneaking around to find information at the parks. Now I have some SPIES to help me out too. I always try and give as much information as I can for each question.

Actually when you think about it......Pin Collecting is a silly hobby. Hmm it's 90 degrees.....what can I do to make my visit more enjoyable? Oh I know! I will put a strap around my neck with 10 pounds of metal pin on it! Oh yea! I can carry a backpack or bag with another 20 pounds of metal in it. That will make the day walking around the park so much more fun!

See how silly that sounds? Well I am right there with all of you! Silly or not, I enjoy it and hope that we all can have a more "lighthearted" view of our crazy hobby !

Happy Trading !

Goofy "Rubber Cement" Surprise Pin Released!

A Surprise Goofy Pin was released today at the 5 & 10 at the
Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World. This is the next in the series of Surprise "cement and rubber" Pins. He is an LE of 1000 and retails for $12.50.

It was also reported that a few boxes of the "sold out" Donald Surprise pin released earlier this week were discovered and placed on the racks for sale today.

These pins are now being affectionately called the "Rubber Cement" Pins by many collectors to differentiate them from the previous "Footprint" pins released at DCA.

Many thanks to Marlene for the picture

From Snip's Mail Bag

Hi Snip,

On DizPins I read that if you pre-ordered Monsters, Inc. you would receive a pin. No one at the Orlando store ever heard this. Has someone changed their minds and didn't tell us?

Kathleen

Kathleen,

Nope, no one has changed the rules. The pre-order to get the pin (and plush too) is an exclusive to the Disney Catalog. There is also a Beauty and The Beast Pin with the DVD.

On your next trip to the Disney Store you can grab a catalog off the counter and tell them about it so they can relay it to all the guests. I bet they have lots of stuff going on and just did not realize there was a different offer in the catalog.

You might keep one of those catalogs for yourself. Seems there are some great pins coming out through the Disney Catalog lately ! Defiantly worth keeping an eye on! Who knows, maybe they will start to randomly insert "vouchers" in some of the catalogs to purchase "mystery" pins!

Happy Trading !

Dear Snip,

Last week someone at DLR called me a "PinShark". Since then I have spent hours naked in front of the mirror looking for gills and fins. I just don't see it. Could they have been deferring to something other then my physical appearance?

Snip, what is a Pin Shark? Does one have to be bitten by another Pin Shark to become one? Can they be killed by silver bullets?

Please help,
Sharky McPintrader

Dear Sharky,

Perhaps you heard them wrong ? I believe they may have been calling you a "pin lark". You know that little humming you make when you find a good pin. The term Pin Shark is an urban myth. What is an urban myth ? Well simple.... it is something that people talk about but does not really exist like the Yetti, Abominable Snowman and The Official Disney Pin Trading site. I would not worry about it too much. Oh and next time you need to spend hours in front a a mirror.......please make sure you do it at home and not in the park!

Happy Trading,
Snip

Hello All,

I get most of my pins from e-bay. If my husband only knew how much I am worth in Disney pins!!! How else can I get them? Can I call somewhere. I'm running out of money.

Thanks
Secret Disney Pin Lover

Secret,

Well you have the right idea! Don't forget to check the Dizpins boards to trade pins and there is a sale board that you can find some bargains too. Now don't expect to be able to purchase a mystery pin at cost, but I think you can get a better deal than the auction sites.

Another thought is to tell your Husband that you have to visit a sick aunt in Orlando. Sneak to the park and load up on pins! You can also order LE pins direct from Disneyland and soon Walt Disney World right from your home! You do have to wait 30 days after the LE pin is released, and open edition pins can be ordered right away from WDW, and this is another opportunity to get some pins at a more reasonable price.

Finally my last bit of advise is to give your husband a few pins, preferably part of an incomplete set. Tell him that he will NEVER be able to complete the set. Then sit back and watch the Disney Magic take over! I expect you both to be making monthly trips to the parks shortly after he gets his "gift"!!

Happy Trading !
