On behalf of the Vast Research Department, Happy
would like to thank everybody that helped them research the origin
of this New Fantasyland Press Guest Pin.
|
|
This was a pin provided to members of the press
who attended the opening gala for the unveiling of the New Fantasyland
at Disneyland after it was refurbished in 1982 and reopened on May
23, 1983.
|

|
And Scott also tells us that at this press event,
it was the first and only time in DL history that the drawbridge was
closed to the land...during the event there was a dragon that came
out of the moat...ending with the relowering of the drawbridge. During
the rehab, the teacups were moved so that they were situated next
to the entrance of the Alice ride, creating a mini-land of Alice in
Wonderland. Also, the Pinocchio ride debuted along with the Village
Haus Restaurant. The old Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship was removed,
and all of the facades were redone.

The Walt Disney Company has joined Variety--The Children's Charity
to offer a special pin commemorating the 100th The pin, a gold heart featuring Mickey Mouse's hand holding a wand, will be available for $2 a pin at Company D beginning Nov. 2. It was first available at the September 2001 Disneyana Convention. It is backstamped ©Variety Club, Arm & Wand ©Disney. All proceeds from the sale of the pin will benefit the local organization of Variety. |

This pin was released today at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
We have been told that this pin was made for a special event planned for the Animal Kingdom which was canceled as a result of the September 11, 2001 attacks. This 3-D pin is not stamped limited edition, but we have been told that only 500 pins were made for the event. The pin was released only at the Animal Kingdom and sold out early this afternoon. The release dates for the Cartoon Series Pins have
been changed. The pins were originally to be released on the First Sunday
of every month, and now they will be released on the 15th of each month,
beginning in November. This will be a series of 12 pins released every
month and each is a LE of 3000.
